The blue card, i.e. a temporary residence permit for the purpose of performing work in a profession requiring high qualifications, is a special type of temporary residence permit addressed to specialists, higher-level employees and experts who work in Poland in professions that require appropriate qualifications or extraordinary skills.
Residence permit for highly skilled professionals
Most often, this type of permit is obtained by IT sector employees, but it is not limited to specific industries or economic sectors. This permit is a result of an implementation of the European Union directive that introduced this permit into Polish law. Holders of Blue Card permit have certain additional rights, including mobility within the European Union and the possibility of easier obtaining the status of a long-term EU resident, the possibility of changing employers, which distinguishes this permit from a standard temporary residence and a work permit.
